Do schools carry insurance on kids in case of accidents on there grounds?

My son was @ recess and a tree branch went thru his eyelid. they took him by ambulance to hospital. long story short we have insurance but what ever they didnt cover, the school is telling us we are responsible for the remainder of the bill? does that sound right? I dont think so..There shouldnt of been branches hanging at eyelevel on play grounds.Do schools carry insurance on kids in case of accidents on there grounds?
While I feel badly for you and your son and hope you both are doing better this isn't as easy as it sounds.

You have medical and you are probably out your deductible. You can talk to the risk management departmernt of the school district but in order for a payemnt to be made you have to prove negligence. This is going to be tough. They can't possibly trim every tree of low lying branches every day.

But it certainly worth a shot. Good luck and I wish your son a speedy recovery.Do schools carry insurance on kids in case of accidents on there grounds?
I would ask to talk with the schools insurance provider. They have to give you that information. Talking to a school administrator will get you nowhere.

The provider will tell you what the coverage is.

Not sure about a tree branch at eye level. Only because any young tree or sapling would have low branches.

Hope you son will be OK.
hope your son is OK. the school has to have a liability policy of some sort. you may have to threaten a law suit, or contact a personal injury lawyer
Schools carry insurance to cover this type of accident (since it was caused by them). If your Son was in an area he shouldn't have been in, that may change things.
