Can you put a laptop + laptop case INTO a backpack and have that count as ONE personal item for a carry-on?

I am bringing a larger carry-on bag and want to bring the allowed ';personal item'; such as a backpack or laptop case. However, I'm wondering if I can put my laptop into a laptop case and put that into my backpack and have that just count as one personal item, since technically it's all in one backpack? Can you put a laptop + laptop case INTO a backpack and have that count as ONE personal item for a carry-on?
yea, i did it for a trip to texas last june, it is perfectly acceptable, except i used a laptop sleeve, but you will have to pull it out to be scanned separately...Can you put a laptop + laptop case INTO a backpack and have that count as ONE personal item for a carry-on?
Sure, people do it all the time. As long as your back back is within the size limit for a carry on, you can stuff it. Just remember to handle it carefully.
yeah u can do it
